Akers has the speed, power, and vision to make him capable of being a solid running back on the next level. Once he has gotten past the first level of defenders, Akers has the speed to separate, but lacks the acceleration to consistently get to the second level. Akers has solid vision to help him get past the first level but once on the second level he is much more strong and able to use his vision to break free. Akers is capable of running through defenders but isn't very shifty and will have trouble evading tacklers. He is also a viable third-down option as a good receiver. Overall, Akers's ability to score once getting past the first level and receiving abilities will make him productive, but his struggles to consistently get to the second level will prevent him from being a workhorse.
