Johnathan Abram
S, Mississippi State
Draft Projection: Rounds 1-2
NFL Comparison: Jamal Adams
Abram is a physical run defender with sideline to sideline speed. He is best fit to play in the box or as a nickel run defender. In coverage, Abram was good in college but he didn’t demonstrate the ball skills, anticipation, or instincts necessary to consistently cover in the NFL. With the proper coaching, Abram could improve in coverage but he will likely be a rotational player early in his career while he is still developing. Overall, Abram is a high-end run defender with some coverage upside and he has the upside to become a very good starter in the NFL.
