Jacobs has fantastic agility, vision, balance, power, and footwork. He is capable of both eluding defenders and running them over, and on top of that, he is a reliable receiver out of the backfield. The combination of these traits make him an incredibly balanced running back. One of Jacobs’s main issues is his speed. In college he wasn’t ever capable of scoring long touchdowns because of his lack of speed and he only ran a 4.62 40 yard dash which is incredibly concerning. Jacobs was a backup for his entire college career which is both good and bad. It is good because it means he has taken far fewer hits than most running backs going into the NFL, meaning he will be more effective for a longer period of time. It is bad that he was a backup because it means teams can’t be sure he will be able to handle a major workload because they’ve never seen him do it, plus he lacks a ton of in-game experience. Also, Nick Saben is an incredible head coach and he knows Jacobs better than anybody and he thought Jacobs wasn’t capable of being a starter. Overall, Jacobs has high upside but has some major red flags.
