McKinney is a do-it-all safety with great coverage skills and solid physicality. He split time equally between playing free safety, slot corner, and in the box as a strong safety. His coverage ability and athleticism is very similar to those of a cornerback, making him a perfect fit for somebody to cover tight ends like Travis Kelce and George Kittle. McKinney is also capable of playing a traditional safety role if necessary and is a solid tackler, though he could improve in that area. His versatility should give defensive coordinators the ability to come up with creative packages to disguise coverages and confuse the quarterback. Overall, McKinney is great in coverage but has the ability to do everything as a safety, and that versatility will make him a very important member of any secondary he joins.

Analytics-Based Prospect Grade: 92.27
