Baker Mayfield

QB, Browns

Baker Mayfield was outstanding as a rookie, and he should only improve in his second year. Rookie quarterbacks typically aren't successful and always get a lot better in year two, and if Baker can make that jump he might end up becoming one of the NFL's best quarterbacks. People don't realize how good Baker actually was last year once Freddy Kitchens, the Browns current head coach, got promoted to offensive coordinator last year. Mayfield had 2,254 yards and 19 touchdowns in the eight games after Kitchens took over. That ends up becoming 4,508 yards and 38 touchdowns over the course of a full season. Those are elite fantasy numbers. For a rookie. If Baker improves upon that he will be in the MVP conversation. And not to mention, the Browns added Odell Beckham Jr. in the offseason. Baker is really the only quarterback who had a chance to challenge Patrick Mahomes for the top spot, because the sky's the limit for him. Some people say not to draft Mayfield because the Browns plan to run the ball more, but they ran it a ton last year and Baker was still very productive. If he is more efficient than he was last year the Browns will pass it more because it will be more effective. Also, the Browns wouldn't trade for Odell Beckham Jr. if they planned to run the ball more. The only reason he isn't ranked higher is because he is riskier than other top quarterback options. The Browns have a new head coach and Baker has never played with Beckham before. He hasn't proven that he can actually get elite numbers over the course of an entire season, whereas all of the players ranked above him have. Overall, Baker isn't as proven as the players ranked above him but he has the highest upside of all quarterbacks other than Patrick Mahomes.
