Brandin Cooks

WR, Rams

Cooks is an incredibly safe option as a high-end WR2. He has posted four straight 1,000 yard seasons and had the best season of his career last year in terms of yards and catches. Cooks has a reputation of being inconsistent because he is a big-play threat, but he was actually very consistent last year, as he was a WR2 or better in 53.3% of his games which ranked 14th among receivers. There is actually reason to believe Cooks will improve this year because he will have had another year to adjust to the Rams' system and play with Jared Goff and the Rams are going to be passing the ball more because they are trying to limit Todd Gurley's workload. In the red-zone, the Rams will be passing it a lot more because Gurley was the go-to option last year, but now that he will be seeing a lesser workload Cooks will have more red-zone opportunities. Cooper Kupp is coming back, and many people are saying that will make Cooks worse, but Cooks was actually better when Kupp played. He posted 44 catches for 719 yards and two touchdowns in the eight games Kupp played compared to 31 catches for 352 yards and two touchdowns in the eight games Kupp didn't play. Cooks's stats if Kupp played the whole season would have been 88 catches for 1,438 yards and four touchdowns. Those are great numbers, so Cooks definitely has top-10 and possibly even top-5 upside when considering the fact that the Rams will be passing the ball more. Overall, Cooks is a very safe receiver with top-10 upside this year, and he is a steal at his current ADP so don't be afraid to take him in the third round.
