Calvin Ridley

WR, Falcons

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Calvin Ridley was great last season with 63 receptions for 866 yards and 7 touchdowns in 13 games (78 receptions for 1,066 yards and 9 touchdowns over the course of an entire season). He was even better after Mohamed Sanu was traded. In his six games after Sanu was traded Ridley had 34 receptions for 493 yards and 3 touchdowns (91 receptions for 1,315 yards and 8 touchdowns over the course of an entire season). Those would be close to elite numbers. This year Ridley should take another jump in his ability and we could see a Chris Godwin-esque breakout season as the second receiver in the Falcons offense. Ridley has shown what he is capable of doing in-house, as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has said that we are “going to see a big jump in his game.” Some are concerned about Todd Gurley coming to Atlanta and that causing the Falcons to run the ball more often, but Gurley has arthritis, so he won’t be able to handle too large of a workload. Expect him to see a similar number to touches to what Devonta Freeman got last year (243 in 14 games), so Ridley won’t be affected. Overall, the third-year jump Calvin Ridley is expected to take combined with what we saw from him last year once Mohamed Sanu was traded make Ridley highly likely to experience a breakout campaign, so he is worth drafting in the third round.
