Chris Carson
RB, Seahawks
Chris Carson is the starting running back in an offense that should lead the league in rushing attempts this year. He was great last year, and he could see an even larger workload next year because the Seahawks lost Doug Baldwin and will not have have many options to pass the ball. With that kind of workload, he has the upside of a top-10 running back. From week 12 on from last season, Carson was the fourth-best running back in fantasy behind only Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffery, and Saquon Barkley. If he can keep that production up over the course of next year, he may be the steal of the draft. There are two concerns with Carson, however. The first is that he doesn't catch passes, which will limit his upside, but that was an issue last year and he was still a good fantasy running back. The second is that Rashaad Penny is breathing down his neck. The Seahawks drafted Penny in the first round so they will want to use him. He's the better pass catcher so he will have the chance to take over for Carson. The Seahawks are going to run the ball so much, however, that both Penny and Carson will be able to get work, but if Penny gets the starting job Carson won't be as good as he was last year. Overall, Carson has tremendous upside but there is a risk that he loses the starting job, so draft him with caution.
