Courtland Sutton

WR, Broncos

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Courtland Sutton’s play will likely take a jump this year as he continues to develop, but other factors make him unlikely to produce like he did last year. First of all, the Broncos added tons of weapons to the offense in Melvin Gordon, Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, and Albert Okwuegbunam. Noah Fant will also have had another year to develop and should be a much better player. Having that many talented players around him will hurt Sutton’s target share and prevent him from producing as much despite his further development. In addition, Sutton wasn’t great with Drew Lock last year, putting up 22 receptions for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns in five games with Lock at quarterback. That paces out to 70 receptions for 896 yards and 6 touchdowns. Sutton should be able to build more chemistry with Lock, so it shouldn’t be a massive problem, but it could affect Sutton’s production. If Sutton is able to develop more chemistry with Lock and the Broncos’ new additions take time to develop or adjust to the offense, he has massive upside, but otherwise Sutton will be looking at worse numbers than he had last year.
