Dalvin Cook

RB, Vikings

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Dalvin Cook was incredible last year, coming in with 1,654 yards from scrimmage, 13 total touchdowns, and 53 receptions in 14 games. Through the first 10 weeks of the season Cook was the second best running back in fantasy, but after getting injured in week 11 he took a step back. In those 10 games Cook had 1,415 yards from scrimmage, 10 total touchdowns, and 40 receptions (2,264 yards from scrimmage, 16 total touchdowns, and 64 receptions). The loss of Stefon Diggs could impact Cook’s performance because it will allow defenses to focus more attention on him. This will hurt Cook’s efficiency, but with Diggs gone Cook will become even more important in this offense and get more touches, so the two issues will likely offset each other. Cook is obviously elite when healthy, but he comes with more risk than the other top running backs. He has serious injury concerns, as he has missed at least two games in every season of his three year career. The guy simply can’t stay on the field. That is enough of a concern to put him behind the other players in his tier. Some are concerned about Dalvin Cook holding out, but he has reportedly informed the Vikings that he will not hold out and will be reporting to camp, so that isn’t a problem. Overall, Dalvin Cook has some injury problems, but he is elite when on the field, so he is worth drafting in the top-5 in PPR and the top-6 in standard.
