Darren Waller

TE, Raiders

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Darren Waller had a breakout season last year with 90 receptions for 1,145 yards and 3 touchdowns. This season Waller will likely take a step back, however, because the Raiders added Henry Ruggs III, Lynn Bowden Jr., Bryan Edwards, and Jason Witten. Waller won’t be the only weapon on the team anymore so expect his number of targets to drop by quite a bit. Waller will still be the top guy because the three new receivers are rookies and Jason Witten isn’t nearly as good as Waller at this point in his career, so he will still put up very good numbers, just not the elite ones we saw last year. At the same time, Waller’s number of touchdowns should go up from the three he had last year because the offense will be better and will be in the red zone more often. Waller led the team in red zone targets last season and that shouldn’t change. Overall, Darren Waller should see fewer receptions and yards next year but more touchdowns, so he is worth drafting as early as the fifth round.
