Ezekiel Elliott

RB, Cowboys

If not for a holdout, Elliott would be the clear first overall pick. If he plays, he has the highest floor and has a ceiling similar to Saquon Barkleys: numbers that have never been seen from a running back. It would be a shock to see either Barkley or Elliott finish with 3,000 total yards. The Cowboys have the second-best offense out of the top four running backs, behind only the Saints, and probably the best offensive line, Travis Frederick will be returning this year, so Zeke's efficiency will likely improve. Combined with the fact that Amari Cooper will be in Dallas for the whole year, and Zeke is easily the top pick. Elliott had 1,207 total yards and 52 catches in games Amari Cooper played last year, which would total 2,414 total yards and 104 catches over a full season. Those numbers would give Zeke one of the best fantasy seasons ever for a running back. The one area Elliott struggled last year was touchdowns, but that was because of bad luck. The Cowboys had only nine snaps from inside an opponent's two-yard line last year. To put that into perspective, the Saints had 34. Zeke is an elite goal-line back and he is the Cowboy's main red zone option, so expect him to have 15+ touchdowns next year just like he would have averaged over 16 games in his first two years. The reason Zeke is fourth instead of first is he is currently holding out. We all saw what happened to Le'Veon Bell last year, so it's simply not worth the risk to draft Zeke over the other top three running backs. Elliott has a ton of leverage, however, and Jerry Jones continuously says a deal will be done, so Zeke is likely to play by week 1 and there is no reason to let him slip past fourth overall.
