Hayden Hurst

TE, Falcons

Hayden Hurst was a good player for the Ravens but was stuck behind Mark Andrews in the depth chart. When looking at Hurst’s advanced stats, it’s clear that he was a very good player. Hurst was 14th among tight ends in yards per reception with 11.6, 7th in yards per target with 8.7, 6th in yards per route run with 2.44, 11th in catch rate with 75%, and 6th in true catch rate (how many of his catchable targets he caught) with 90.9%. Now Hurst goes to Atlanta which is one of the most pass-heavy offenses in the NFL and just lost ist starting tight end. Hurst will be the clear-cut top guy for the Falcons, and Matt Ryan loves to pass the ball to his tight ends. Back when Tony Gonzalez was on the Falcons he averaged 120 targets per season and last year Austin Hooper had 97 targets in 13 games (119 over the course of an entire season). Even Jacob Tamme had 81 targets in 15 games (86 over the course of an entire season) back in 2015. Ryan has already made it clear that he loves Hurst, describing him as one of the “fastest and most athletic tight ends I’ve ever played with.” Overall, Hayden Hurst is being massively undervalued this year because he will get tons of targets, so you should target him and/or Jared Cook later in the draft if you miss out on the top guys.
