Hunter Henry

TE, Chargers

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Hunter Henry was good last year, putting up 55 receptions for 652 yards and 5 touchdowns in 12 games (73 receptions for 869 yards and 7 touchdowns over the course of an entire season). Henry is somewhat of an injury concern because he has never played a full 16 games in his four-year career. In addition, Phillip Rivers is gone which could hurt Henry’s production. Rivers loved throwing to the tight end, but if Tyrod Taylor ends up starting, Henry should be fine. Taylor loved throwing to Charles Clay while he was in Buffalo, as Clay averaged 5.8 targets a game in his three seasons with Taylor (93 targets over the course of an entire season). Henry is a better player than Clay, so he could get over 100 targets if Taylor is quarterback (assuming the two have good chemistry). If Justin Herbert is the quarterback, however, there is no way of knowing how well he will do. Herbert did pass to the tight end a solid amount at Oregon, but he might change up who he passes to in the NFL. Overall, The possibility of Herbert starting and Henry’s injury concerns make him slightly risky, but his upside is huge, so he is worth drafting as a TE1 but not at his current price.
