Jonnu Smith

TE, Titans

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Jonnu Smith is now the only tight end on the Titans with Delanie Walker gone. Smith was okay last year with 35 receptions for 439 yards and 3 touchdowns. Smith was better after Delanie Walker got hurt, however, with 29 receptions for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns in 10 games (including the one that Walker got injured in). That ends up being 46 receptions for 547 yards and 5 touchdowns over the course of an entire season. Those numbers aren’t great, but they are good enough for him to build on next year. Smith is an athletic freak who was drafted in the third round, so he was going to take some time to develop. Now that Smith is going into his fourth season, there is a chance he takes a jump and fulfills his athletic potential. If he does that, he has great upside. The Titans won’t be passing a lot so Smith won’t get a ton of targets, but he could be a top-10 tight end next year if everything goes right. Overall, Jonnu Smith is worth drafting very late in the draft as a flier with hopes of him potentially becoming a starting-caliber player. If not, you wouldn’t have spent much on him and can release him.
