Josh Jacobs

RB, Raiders

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Josh Jacobs was incredible last year, as he led the NFL in missed tackles forced despite missing three games. He is a very talented player and he is running behind a top-10 run blocking offensive line. Jacobs will produce on the ground, as last year he had 1,150 rushing yards in 13 games (1,415 rushing yards over the course of an entire season). The issue is the passing game. Last year Jacobs had only 20 receptions for 166 receiving yards in 13 games (25 receptions for 204 receiving yards over the course of an entire season). The Raiders are saying they want to get Jacobs more involved in the passing game, but they went out and re-signed Jalen Richard and drafted a receiver to switch to running back. There are simply too many pass catching running backs there to actually believe Jacobs will get more pass catching work. The Raiders offense will be better next year, however, with the addition of Marcus Mariota to compete with Derek Carr, Henry Ruggs III, and the development of some of their younger players like Hunter Renfrow. This should open up running lanes for Jacobs and increase his touchdown upside. Overall, Jacobs should take a step forward in his second year and be a very good runner, but his lack of receiving upside will cap his upside.
