Julio Jones

WR, Falcons

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Julio Jones is going to once again be an elite fantasy receiver. Last year he put up big numbers with 99 receptions for 1,394 yards and 6 touchdowns in 15 games, and this year he should be able to get over 100 receptions 1,400 yards, and a few touchdowns assuming he stays healthy. The Falcons are going to be in a lot of shootouts and will not be an incredibly run-heavy team, so Julio will probably do just as well as he always has. There are two concerns with Julio, however. The first is obviously his touchdowns. For some reason Julio Jones has always struggled to get into the end zone. He’s only scored double-digit touchdowns once in his career and that was eight years ago. Other elite guys like Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill score tons of touchdowns and though Michael Thomas has never gotten double-digits, he has gotten 9 touchdowns in three of his four seasons. Julio has proven that he can still put up elite numbers without tons of touchdowns, but the lack of scores definitely limits his upside. The other concern with Julio is his age. He is 31 years old, and though that probably isn’t a problem, we’ve seen some guys like Gronk and Dez Bryant start to drop off around that age. It’s highly unlikely Julio actually drops off, but it is a reason to put Julio below guys like Davante Adams or possibly Tyreek Hill in certain formats. Overall, Julio should be able to have a great season once again, so he is worth drafting in the second round.
