Keenan Allen

WR, Chargers

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Keenan Allen has consistently been a great fantasy receiver, putting up at least 97 receptions, 1,215 yards from scrimmage, and 6 touchdowns in each of the last three seasons. Now that Phillip Rivers is gone, however, Allen becomes much more risky. Either Tyrod Taylor or Justin Herbert will be the starter and we have no idea what kind of chemistry Allen will have with them. It is certainly possible for Allen to produce just like he has for the past three years, but it’s also possible that he sees a big dropoff in production like T.Y. Hilton after Andrew Luck retired. Hilton went from 76 receptions for 1,270 yards and 6 touchdowns in 14 games (87 receptions for 1,451 yards and 7 touchdowns over the course of an entire season) two years ago to 45 receptions for 501 yards and 5 touchdowns in 10 games (72 receptions for 802 yards and 8 touchdowns over the course of an entire season) last year. There are simply too many possible outcomes for Keenan Allen to be considered anything more than a high-upside WR2/3, so he is worth drafting in the fifth or sixth round if still available.
