Matt Ryan

QB, Falcons

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Matt Ryan is a very safe, reliable option if you want to wait until the later rounds to land a quarterback. He doesn’t have elite upside given his age, lack of rushing upside, and the fact that the Falcons added Todd Gurley, but he is almost a guarantee to have around 4,500 passing yards and 25+ touchdowns. The Falcons will be passing the ball a lot this year and have a great receiving core with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, so Ryan is going to produce. The most important thing about Ryan is his consistency. The only quarterback who busted at a lower rate last season was Lamar Jackson. Ryan is the type of guy you can wait to draft and then not worry about for the rest of the season, other than his bye week. Overall, if you want to go heavy on skill positions without worrying too much about quarterback, Ryan is the perfect option, but don’t expect a top-5 finish. He is worth drafting in the double-digit rounds as a low-end QB1, and it would probably make sense to pair him with a high upside player later in the draft.
