Michael Thomas

WR, Saints

Michael Thomas is a fantasy monster, and he is easily the best wide receiver in fantasy this year. Last year Thomas broke records with 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and 9 touchdowns. Thomas’s value obviously takes a massive step up in PPR because 149 receptions is unheard of and nobody else could even come close to that number. Thomas is still great in standard, but in PPR he starts to get into the range of elite running backs, and we haven’t seen a receiver like that in years. The only real changes that have happened to this Saints offense are that Drew Brees should be able to play the whole season, which helps Thomas, Alvin Kamara being fully healthy, and the fact that they added Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders shouldn’t take many if any targets from Thomas because the Saints’ entire offense is designed around him. Kamara being fully healthy will probably make the Saints run the ball slightly more and pass it to Kamara a little more as well, which could slightly limit Thomas’s targets. Thomas likely won’t get 149 receptions again because of Kamara being healthy and Sanders being added, but he will still almost definitely lead the league in receptions and see pretty close to what he got last year. Thomas is also very durable and consistent so he might be the safest player in fantasy to go along with his insane upside. Overall, Michael Thomas is a rare fantasy wide receiver, and he is worth drafting in the top-5 in PPR and top-10 in standard.
