Robert Woods

WR, Rams

Robert Woods has been a very good, safe fantasy option for the last two seasons, and now that Brandin Cooks is gone and the Rams seem to have changed their offensive approach he has massive upside. After the bye week last year, the Rams shifted their offensive approach from primarily using a three receiver set to using a two tight end set because their offensive line was so bad that they needed an extra blocker. That shift got rid of the slot receiver and forced Cooper Kupp to play on the outside where he is much less effective, making Woods the clear top receiver in the offense. The Rams are going to do this again next year because their offensive line hasn’t gotten much better. In Woods’s seven games after that change, he had 52 receptions, 2 touchdowns, and 707 yards from scrimmage. That ends up being 119 receptions, 5 touchdowns, and 1,616 yards from scrimmage over the course of an entire season. Those are elite wide receiver numbers with the exception of the touchdowns. We can expect to see positive regression with the touchdowns next season, however, because catching that many passes and only scoring five times just isn’t feasible. Overall, Woods is a MASSIVE steal at his current ADP (especially in PPR), and he is worth drafting as a WR1 for teams who go running back heavy early in the draft (which everyone should do) or elite WR2.
