Todd Gurley

RB, Falcons

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Todd Gurley is no longer an elite running back, but he is the starter in a very good offense and will get a solid red zone workload, so he is worth drafting in the fifth round. The Falcons are a pass-first team and Gurley is far from the focal point of their offense, so he won’t get the same kind of work he got last year. Expect around 150-200 touches. Matt Ryan likes passing it to the running back, however, so Gurley could see an increase in receptions next year. The main reason Todd Gurley has value is because he will be the top goal line back for the Falcons, who will be scoring a lot, so he could legitimately see 15 total touchdowns. The thing is that touchdowns can be somewhat luck-based, and if Gurley doesn’t get double-digit touchdowns he will be a bust. That’s simply too risky for where he is being drafted. If he is available in the fifth round and you have nobody else to go with, you can take a shot on him, but otherwise, stay away.
