Zach Ertz

TE, Eagles

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Zach Ertz had a great season last year, setting the single-season record for receptions by a tight end. Going into this season, however, the same can't be expected from Ertz. The Eagles added DeSean Jackson and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside to the receiving core while adding Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders in the run game. They are going to spread the ball out a lot more, so Ertz simply isn't going to see the volume that made him so great last year. Ertz even said that there is no way he gets 116 catches again. Instead, he should be expected to see around 90 catches, which is still very good and why he should still be considered one of the few difference-makers at the tight end position. Ertz wasn't very efficient last year, as he only had 10 yards a catch. Expect that to increase so Ertz's stat line will look more like 90 catches for around 1,000 yards. In terms of touchdowns, the extra weapons will make the Eagles offense much better, and now that Carson Wentz is a year off from the torn ACL, this offense will be one of the best in the league. This will give Ertz more red-zone opportunities than last year, so his touchdown numbers might go up. These extra red-zone opportunities might be offset by the fact that there are more people to throw to and Ertz is no longer the clear-cut top red-zone option, however, so expect Ertz to have around eight touchdowns like he's had the last two seasons in a row. Overall, Ertz won't be as good as he was last year, so he has a floor similar to George Kittle's and his ceiling isn't as high as Kelce or Kittle, but he will still be one of the few difference-makers at tight end so he is worth drafting as the third tight end after Kelce and Kittle around the third round.
