Jaelan Phillips is an incredibly fast and explosive edge rusher. He has played as both a defensive end and an outside linebacker in college. Phillips’s elite speed and explosiveness combined with his ability to bend at the top of the rush allow him to get around blockers with ease. He also has a great inside counter move to throw defenders off. Phillips isn’t as good against the run as he is against the pass, as he is inconsistent using his hands to control blockers. His speed does, however, enable him to catch ball carriers in a hurry. Many are concerned about Phillips’s durability because he has a bad injury history, but he is arguably the most talented edge rusher in this draft class, so he should still go very high.

Analytics-Based Prospect Grade: 94
