Williams is a very powerful runner who is able to run through defenders on a regular basis. He has great vision and is quick to find the hole. In addition to his power, Williams has great lateral quickness and is able to make defenders miss with ease. He is fast enough to consistently get to the edge and has a ton of elusiveness in the open field. Williams might be the best pure runner in this draft class, but he isn’t as polished as the top 2 running back prospects in the passing game, although he has at times flashed potential to be a good receiver. He is a decent option on chedowns and has somewhat reliable hands, but Williams’s ability to catch the ball isn’t going to be a major part of the offense he joins, which means he will likely sit out on third downs. That will make it somewhat predictable what the offense is doing when he is on the field. Williams is great in pass protection, however, so he can still play an important role on the offense in passing downs. Overall, Javonte Willims is a great runner with some receiving upside who is capable of making an immediate impact as his team’s top running back.

Analytics-Based Prospect Grade: 93.32
