Jay Tufele
DT, USC
Draft Projection: Rounds 2-3
NFL Comparison: Vita Vea
Jay Tufele is a very versatile defender who is able to play as either a nose tackle or a 4-3 defensive tackle. Tufele is slightly undersized for a nose tackle, so he would need to gain a little bit of weight to be an effective starter there. He is a good pass rusher who has demonstrated the ability to get to the quarterback. Tufele is quick and has a great first step. He plays low, allowing him to gain an advantage over offensive linemen. Tufele is also a solid run defender. He has the strength to maintain his ground against blockers and has shown the ability to push defenders out of the way to get some tackles. Overall, Tufele is a good all around defender who should be able to become a solid starter in the NFL.
