Trey Smith
G, Tennessee
Draft Projection: Rounds 1-3
NFL Comparison: David DeCastro
Trey Smith is a very solid guard with minimal weaknesses. As a freshman, Smith was incredible. He arguably would have been the second guard taken in the 2018 draft behind only Quenton Nelson had he been eligible. Smith ended up struggling with blood clots later in his career, but he returned for his senior year to show that he doesn’t have any health question marks because of that. Smith played some tackle in college, but it is widely agreed upon that Smith is a much better prospect as a guard. The blood clots will discourage some teams from taking Smith, which is why his draft status is somewhat up in the air, but if he is able to stay healthy, he will be a very good starter on the next level.
Analytics-Based Prospect Grade: 90.24
