Allen Robinson

WR, Bears

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Allen Robinson had another good season last year, as he set a career-high in catches with 102 with his second best season in terms of yards with 1,250. He also seems to be in a better position to succeed given the changes the Bears have made at quarterback. There’s no question that Allen Robinson has talent and would be an elite fantasy receiver with a good quarterback, but he has been turned into a boring, low-end WR1 by bad quarterback play. Andy Dalton isn’t an elite quarterback by any means, but he honestly might be the best quarterback Robinson has ever played with. Blake Bortles, Mitchell Trubisky, and Nick Foles are the quarterbacks Robinson has had, so there isn’t a very high standard. The real upside for Allen Robinson comes if Justin Fields reaches his ceiling. We saw what Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow could do as rookies, so if Fields manages to put on a similar performance, Allen Robinson could be a top-5 receiver. That doesn’t seem incredibly likely, however, because the Bears seem intent on starting Andy Dalton and Fields is the type of player who will take a while to adjust to the NFL due to his college offense. Because of this, Robinson should be viewed as a low-end WR1 who has a great floor and a great, albeit unlikely, ceiling.
