Clyde Edwards-Helaire

RB, Chiefs

CEH was a massive disappointment last season. The Chiefs gave him every opportunity possible to be an elite fantasy running back, and he simply didn’t produce. In the first 6 games of the season last year, CEH had over 20 touches per game and over 15 PPR points per game. As the season went on, Kansas City realized that using CEH that much wasn’t making the offense better so they decreased his workload. He had under 13 touches per game and 11.54 PPR points per game. Most rookie running backs have the opposite happen to them. They start off the year without being used much and gradually increase their workload as the season progresses. Le’Veon Bell did join in the middle of the year, but he isn’t very good anymore. If Le’Veon Bell could feasibly take touches away from CEH, it means CEH isn’t that good. CEH is still a decent pick late in the 2nd round or early in the 3rd, however, because of his floor. There is practically no competition for him in Kansas City, so even if he isn’t necessarily as talented as we thought he was coming out of college, he will get enough touches to be an RB2. And, if CEH finds a way to improve in his rookie year and becomes the player we all expected him to be, he could end up being a very good pick.
