D’Andre Swift

RB, Lions

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

D’Andre Swift will be the starter for the Lions, but Jamaal Williams will still play a big role in this offense. Swift won’t be a workhorse for the Lions. Swift is going to excel as a pass catcher. He’s a great receiver and the Lions will be losing in many games, so he will see the field more often. Detroit has practically nobody at receiver now that Kenny Golladay is gone, so Swift will be a massive part of this passing game. He’ll probably be the second option in the passing game behind only T.J. Hockenson. Swift could see a 12-15% target share this year, which would make him one of the best receiving backs in fantasy. The thing is that Jamaal Williams is a solid pass catcher, so Swift won’t be able to put up Alvin Kamara or Austin Ekeler numbers through the air. The biggest problem with Swift is how he’ll be used on the ground. Anthony Lynn almost never used Austin Ekeler on the goal line when he was with the Chargers, and even though Swift is bigger than Ekeler, Lynn might want to have Swift play a similar role. That means he’s at risk of scoring next to no rushing touchdowns. If Lynn decides to use Swift on the goal line his upside is much higher, but that’s a big if. Overall, D’Andre Swift is going to be very good through the air but may struggle on the ground with Jamaal Williams in Detroit. Nonetheless, a great pick at where he is currently going in the draft because he has fallen significantly since the start of the summer.
