Dalvin Cook

RB, Vikings

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Dalvin Cook is the only running back in the league who will be able to sniff Christian McCaffrey’s points per game. He isn’t as strong as McCaffrey as a receiver, but he’s incredibly strong on the ground and is still a better receiver than a lot of other running backs. Cook was great last year (1,918 yards from scrimmage, 17 total touchdowns, and 44 catches in 14 games) and the offense hasn’t gone through much change. He’ll be equally as productive this upcoming season. The biggest problem with Dalvin Cook is that he can’t stay healthy. He’s never played a full 16 games and it’ll be even harder for him to play the whole season now that there are 17 games. Cook has played 14 games in each of the last two seasons, which is his career high. Overall, Dalvin Cook has incredible upside but he’s riskier than some of the other top running backs because of his injury concerns. If you draft Dalvin Cook, you MUST draft Alexander Mattison later in the draft. That way, if Cook gets hurt, you can just replace him with Mattison. Alexander Mattison had 29.5 points against the Lions in Week 17 when Cook was out last year, so he'll be a viable replacement.
