Gus Edwards

RB, Ravens

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

With J.K. Dobbins out for the year, Gus Edwards is the best running back on the best running team in the NFL. Edwards will be incredibly efficient on the ground because defenses need to account for the possibility of Lamar Jackson keeping it, which opens up running lanes. That’s evidenced by Edwards’s 5 yards per carry last season. With the Ravens relying on the ground game, Edwards is going to get a ton of touches. He also has great touchdown upside. J.K. Dobbins, Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards combined for 17 rushing touchdowns last year, and with Ingram gone and Dobbins hurt, Edwards should be getting almost all of the goal line carries. Edwards isn’t a good receiver, as his career high in receptions is 9, and that’ll definitely limit his ceiling. He will, however, be able to get enough rushing yards and touchdowns to be a great fantasy option. If you combined the production of Mark Ingram, J.K. Dobbins, and Gus Edwards from last year, you would get 1,827 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Even without the receptions, those are fantastic numbers. Obviously, Edwards won’t be the only running back in the Ravens backfield, as Justice Hill and Ty'Son Williams are behind him. Those guys will get some touches, but Edwards will definitely be leading the backfield.
