Jalen Hurts

QB, Eagles

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Jalen Hurts had a small sample size last year, but he did well enough to take the starting job from Carson Wentz. Hurts wasn’t the best passer, but he was a rookie. He will surely improve as he gains more experience in the league. Hurts’s main upside comes as a runner, however. In four games last year Hurts had 46 rushing attempts. If you paced that out to a full 16 game season, that would be 184 attempts, which would be the most of all time for a quarterback. Obviously, as Hurts improves as a passer he won’t run the ball as much, but he still has elite running potential. He feels very similar to Lamar Jackson after his rookie season. Jackson had a small sample size but was elite on the ground and struggled a bit as a passer. The next year, he was NFL MVP. Not to mention the fact that the Eagles added Devonta Smith in the draft. Hurts has a legitimate number one receiver now. In addition, the entire Eagles offensive line was injured last season. Now they’ll be healthy, and that combined with the addition of Devonta Smith will surely help him make a second-year jump. Jalen Hurts has incredible upside and a solid floor because of his rushing abilities, so is a good pick once all of the top quarterbacks are off the board.
