Joe Mixon

RB, Bengals

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Joe Mixon is in a significantly better position to succeed now that Giovani Bernard is gone. Bernard had taken up most of the Bengals’ receiving work, but now Mixon has the chance to become a three-down player. Cincinnati doesn’t have anyone to fill that receiving role. The coaching staff is saying that they don’t want Mixon to leave the field on third downs and he’s going to handle the largest workload of his career. He’ll probably see over 350 and maybe even 400 touches on the year. That means that Mixon has great upside and is likely to have a career year. He’s a very talented player who has proven to be very consistent on the ground. That, coupled with solid receiving production, can make him a solid RB1 with the potential to be a top-5 running back. Mixon isn’t running behind a very good offensive line, but the Bengals have so many weapons that defenses won’t be able to focus on stopping the run. And Mixon has proven that he can be good on the ground with a bad offensive line. Overall, Joe Mixon has great upside and his floor is a 1,000+ yard guy with a few touchdowns. He isn’t worth a first round pick given how many good running backs there are this year, but he is a good second round option.
