Jonathan Taylor

RB, Colts

For most of the season, Jonathan Taylor was a solid player. But towards the end of the year the Colts started to use him a lot more, and he was fantastic. In the last five games of the regular season, Taylor had 723 yards from scrimmage, 8 total touchdowns, and 10 catches. That is 2,314 yards from scrimmage, 26 touchdowns, and 32 catches over the course of a 16-game season. The guy was a MONSTER. It’s important to note, however, that these numbers came against some of the worst run defenses in the NFL. There has obviously been a major change to the Colts’ offense. First of all, Phillip Rivers is retired and Carson Wentz will now be the starting QB. Wentz is hurt right now but is on track to play week one. If he misses time, it’ll hurt Taylor, but that doesn’t seem like it’ll be an issue. The biggest concern with Jonathan Taylor is the fact that Nyheim Hines is still there. He will be getting most of the receiving work and will play on most third downs. That limits Taylors upside. Nonetheless, Jonathan Taylor showed how good he can be towards the end of last season, so he should be a first round pick in most leagues. He’s more risky than the top running backs because he hasn’t shown the ability to produce for a long period of time and is in a committee, but he has all the upside in the world.
