Jonnu Smith

TE, Patriots

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Jonnu Smith is a high-risk, high-reward tight end this year. Right after the Patriots signed him in free agency he seemed to be an elite fantasy option, but the Patriots signed Hunter Henry later on, which hurts Smith’s fantasy value. Jonnu Smith is a fantastic, versatile player and the Patriots will move him all over the field to get the ball in his hands. He will be either the first or the second option in this offense, depending on how well Hunter Henry does. If the Patriots are able to return to their old ways in which they used two productive tight ends, both Smith and Henry could end up becoming high-end TE1s. Smith’s incredible athleticism and the Patriots’ love for tight ends give him very high upside, but the fact that he’s on a new team with plenty of competition for targets gives him a very low floor. Overall, Jonnu Smith would ideally be drafted as a high-upside TE2, but if you decide to wait a long time on tight ends, he could be your top tight end.
