Keenan Allen

WR, Chargers

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Keenan Allen had an incredibly good season last year. He had great chemistry with Justin Herbert and seemed to always get the ball thrown his way. If you remove week one where Tyrod Taylor was the quarterback and week 15 when Allen got hurt and missed most of the game, Allen would have 95 catches for 938 yards and 8 touchdowns in 12 games. That ends up being 127 catches for 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns over the course of 16 games. The Chargers lost Hunter Henry, but Austin Ekeler is coming back from injury, so the two will likely offset each other. With defenses needing to place some focus on stopping Ekeler, Allen will have more room to get open. In addition, Justin Herbert will likely take a major step up this year, as most second year quarterbacks do, so Allen will have even better quarterback play. That means he will, in all likelihood, be more productive. Last year Allen was 79th in catchable target rate and 95th in target quality rating, meaning Justin Herbert wasn’t too accurate when throwing to Keenan Allen. Herbert’s likely improvement in play will be incredibly helpful. Overall, Keenan Allen is an incredibly underrated player in fantasy this year and should be a consistent WR1 this season.
