Kyler Murray

QB, Cardinals

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Kyler Murray’s combination of good passing and elite rushing make him a high-end QB1 in fantasy. Murray was averaging 32.1 points per game before injuring his shoulder in week 11. He had 2,375 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, 604 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns in his 9 games before the injury. That’s 4,222 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 1,074 rushing yards, and 18 rushing touchdowns over the course of 16 games. Those are elite numbers and would make Murray the QB1 in fantasy, and it wouldn’t have been very close. In fact, he would have had the greatest fantasy season of all time. After Murray injured his shoulder, he ran the ball a lot less and had trouble throwing, so his numbers fell off significantly. Despite that, he was still the QB1 in fantasy through 16 weeks before missing most of week 17 with an ankle injury. Murray will be healthy this year and ready to return to form. The issue is that there is talk that Cardinals may look to have Murray run the ball less this year because of his injury. Murray is, at the end of the day, an elite athlete, though, and it’s just his natural instinct to run. People were saying Lamar Jackson would run the ball less at this same time last year and he ended up being just fine. The Cardinals also brought in A.J. Green and Rondale Moore, who should help him improve as a passer. If Murray does run less, he’ll pass more, and his new weapons should help improve his efficiency, which would hopefully make up for any dip in passing production. Over.all, Kyler Murray has league-winning upside and the potential to have the greatest fantasy season ever for a quarterback.
