Mike Davis

RB, Falcons

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Mike Davis has practically no competition, so he’s going to get a ton of touches. If you look at what Mike Davis did with the Panthers, he was actually really good. Davis was 8th in overall evaded tackles and 3rd in juke rate. Davis was incredibly productive, and did that with a horrible supporting cast. He was 61st amongst all running backs in the quality of the run blocking he got and the 6th highest stacked front rate. He was also top-5 amongst running backs in target share with over 15%. Obviously Mike Davis isn’t as good as those numbers indicate, but he’s a massive improvement over Todd Gurley for the Falcons. Gurley had 17 goal line carries last year, which was the 6th most in the NFL. Now that Davis is in that role, he’s going to get a ton of touchdowns. With Julio Jones gone, the Falcons will likely look to run the ball even more, so Davis will be getting more touches than Todd Gurley got last year and he’ll be much more efficient. At the end of the day, Davis is the top running back in a great offense and was incredibly efficient last year, so he has great upside and is very safe because he’ll get a lot of touches. If Davis finds a way to be as efficient as he was last year, he has top-5 potential, but the odds of that happening are relatively low.
