Mike Evans
WR, Buccaneers
Mike Evans had a solid season last year, but he wasn’t the WR1 he used to be. Touchdowns really saved Evans’s season, as he emerged as Tom Brady’s favorite red zone target en route to 13 receiving touchdowns. The yards, and volume weren’t great, however. Evans barely eclipsed 1,000 yards and saw only 109 targets. The Buccaneers have so many good weapons that it’ll be very hard for Evans to put up the numbers that he once did. Evans should have a better season, however, as Tom Brady will have had another year to learn the Buccaneers offense and build chemistry with Evans. Brady is also healthy after playing last season on a torn MCL, so he should be better this year unless he suddenly falls off a cliff due to old age (it seems unlikely, but it’s bound to happen at some point). Overall, Mike Evans is a solid option who will score touchdowns, but he isn’t going to be much more than that. Evans owners should prepare for some inconsistency as well, as touchdown-reliant players tend to put up few points in games in which they don’t score a touchdown.
