Robert Tonyan

TE, Packers

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Robert Tonyan had a breakout year with 52 catches for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns. Tonyan was incredible when it comes to advanced stats. Tonyan was the top tight end in the NFL when it comes to catch rate. He caught 52 of 56 targets. You read that right; it’s unreal. He was also the top tight end in the league in true catch rate (which doesn’t count bad throws against him) with a 98.1% rate. He was also third in yards per target and first in his average separation when target. The guy had no drops. Sure, he’s probably going to regress in terms of his efficiency and touchdown production, but this shows that he’s an incredibly good tight end. Unfortunately, the Packers aren’t using him as much as they should, so we are unlikely to see an increase in volume or production. In fact, we might see a decrease because Tonyan dropped off down the stretch last year. He had only 15 targets in his last five games, including the playoffs. Overall, if Robert Tonyan somehow sees more volume, he has elite upside given how talented he is, but that seems unlikely to happen, so he should be viewed as a low-end TE1.
