Trevor Lawrence

QB, Jaguars

1200px-U+25CB.svg.png

Trevor Lawrence is certainly a risky pick because he’s a rookie who hasn’t played a snap in the NFL, but he was arguably the greatest quarterback prospect of all time and certainly the best since Andrew Luck, so he has elite upside. Justin Herbert showed us that a rookie could still put up top numbers despite being inexperienced, so Lawrence has a chance to do the same. He is in a decently talented offense with D.J. Chark, Laviska Shenault, Marvin Jones, James Robinson, and Travis Etienne, but the Jaguars have far from a top-end receiving core. Jacksonville has a brand new head coach and was absolutely atrocious last year. At the end of the day, the Jaguars aren’t going to be a very good team. While that limits Trevor Lawrence’s touchdown upside, it also means that he’ll be playing in a lot of garbage time games where he’ll be passing the ball all the time and the defense will be playing soft, allowing him to get a ton of yards. Trevor Lawrence shouldn’t be the only quarterback you take and is best suited as a high-upside QB2 given the fact that he’s a rookie, but the upside is huge and makes him a must-draft if he is available late in the draft.
